Smritikana Maiti's poem Death's Solemnity

Death’s Solemnity Smritikana Maity Smritikana Maiti's poem Death's Solemnity The Earth was gnawing on her spirit, As she got sick by dance of death, too horrid ! She continued sitting on the dank Earth, Until cold bite of evening reminded her of cozy hearth. She, as sea, broke on shore of senses, Rose from the coffin of thoughts ! But the graveyard confining screams of rotting figures, Won't allow him to lift his head. Her eyes, bloated with tears, Like ocean-breast, swelling in tide. On her cheeks, chest, cloth - Dampness lingers, Like a leaf sweating, in fear of winter's shroud ! Wind blows murmuring, “He is Dead!” She heard the last bird's funeral line. With trembling hands, a wreath, she put on ground, Only for Death to suck its life and brutally shine. He left her alone in chamber of life's vitality ! Now, she must leave him behind in coffin of Death’s Solemnity !
